If you're a premature ejaculator, then you're probably aware that the more relaxed you are the longer you can last in bed. And this is why meditation can do wonders for your stamina.
💡 In a nutshell, meditation is nothing more than being in a still and thoughtless state for 5 minutes or longer to reduce stress and regain "control over yourself". It helps with premature ejaculation by taking you out of the "fight and flight" mode and getting you into the "rest and digest" or how I like to call it, the "love making" mode.
In fact, most of my clients in my Lover Stamina coaching have to do some form of meditation, because of its beneficial effect I see on my clients' sexual performance.
What does the science say about meditation helping with PE ?
On on hand there’s not a ton of studies out there yet about how mindfulness meditation can help with PE. But, the ones we do have are pretty hopeful.
For instance, one recent study showed that a mindfulness program really helped men dealing with PE. Another study found that when couples dealing with PE tried mindfulness-based sex therapy, they were happier in their marriages. Cool, right?
In addition, meditation also improves your immune system, your stress resistance 1 Amishi P. Jha et al. Mindfulness training modifies subsystems of attention link , sleep and reduces the sensation of pain 2 Fadel Zeidan et al. Brain Mechanisms Supporting the Modulation of Pain by Mindfulness Meditation link .
This alone should be convincing enough to practice mindfullness meditation if you tend to orgasm quickly.
But here are 3 additional scientific reasons, why meditation can help you last longer, even though it won't cure lifelong rapid ejaculation.

3 Ways How Meditation Makes Ejaculation Control Easier
Men with premature ejaculation tend to be neurotic, stressed and tense.
I've been helping men overcome premature ejaculation and erectile dysfunction for 10+ years and have very rarely seen "super relaxed", "stress-free" premature ejaculators.
And this is exactly where meditation can chime in and help:
- Meditation relaxes you, reduces anxiety, reduces overthinking.
- Meditation reduces stress hormones, which otherwise accelerate ejaculation.
- Meditation has been shown to increase serotonin, which helps delaying ejaculation.
Here are the details.
#1
Meditation relaxes you, reduces anxiety and prevents overthinking during sex
If you as a man orgasm quickly, then you're usually quite worried about sex, specifically about that moment when you cum too quickly and whether your partner will be disappointed.
It's all circling around in your head and it's hard to think about anything other than possible failure, both before and during sex. This ironically makes you cum even faster.
Daily meditation can counteract this: after a systematic review and meta-analysis of 47 studies with a total of 3,515 participants, the researchers came to the conclusion that meditation is just as effective in the treatment of anxiety as drug therapy with antidepressants. 3Madhav Goyal, MD, MPH et al. #2
Meditation reduces stress hormones that otherwise accelerate ejaculation
Men with PE have usually elevated levels of stress hormones such as cortisol, adrenaline and noradrenaline due to their genetics and life circumstances. These hormones accelerate all processes in the body - including ejaculation.
Meditation helps to effectively downregulate these stress hormones so that they don't additionally accelerate ejaculation.
In a study with medical students, a whopping 20% reduction in cortisol levels was observed after just one meditation session.5Turakitwanakan W et al. Effects of mindfulness meditation on serum cortisol of medical students. Link
More stress resistance
A study conducted by the All India Institute of Medical Sciences with 32 adults who had never practiced meditation before showed a significant improvement in their stress resistance. When the participants practiced meditation before a stressful event, the negative effects of stress were significantly reduced. 6Amit Mohan et al. Effect of Meditation on Stress-Induced Changes in Cognitive Functions Link
Another study by Harvard Medical School showed that mitochondrial energy production, consumption and resilience were greatly improved when participants practiced yoga and meditation. This strengthens immunity and increases resilience to stress. 7Thaddeus W.W. Pace et al. Effect of compassion meditation on neuroendocrine, innate immune and behavioral responses to psychosocial stress Link
In our context, stress resistance means that one is not completely overwhelmed by external stimuli - including sexual overstimulation that otherwise would lead to rapid ejaculation.
#3
Meditation increases serotonin, which helps delay ejaculation
It is well known by now that increasing serotonin can help delay ejaculation. In other words, the higher your serotonin levels the longer you can last in bed.
Men with a certain (unfavorable) serotonin gene suffer from premature ejaculation due to rather lower serotonin levels (more about the causes of premature ejaculation here.)
And meditation can help here as well. Stress hormones decrease during meditation, whilst the rest-and-love hormones and neurotransmitters such as serotonin rise. 8Divya Krishnakumar et al. A Simple Meditation Guide for Premature Ejaculators
Meditation is basically nothing more than focusing on your breathing for a certain period of time and trying not to think about anything. That simple.
Here is a simple step-by-step guide to make ejaculation control easier:
- Sit down comfortably, close your eyes and be undisturbed (put your phone in airplane mode).
- For 5 minutes, deliberately try not to think about anything by focusing your attention on your breathing. Simply observe your breathing.
- As soon as you realize that you are engaging in any kind of thought, interrupt the thought and simply return your attention to your breathing.
Done. Obviously, the effect will be stronger if you meditate for longer than just 5 minutes.
Here is a list of celebrities who meditate regularly:
- The Neo himself: Keanu Reeves
- The Wolverine: Hugh Jackman
- The Terminator: Arnold Schwarzenegger
- The 4 Hour Work Week Guru: Timothy Ferriss
- The most famous podcaster: Joe Rogan
- The Dirty Harry: Clint Eastwood
- The Basketball Legend: Kobe Bryant (RIP)
- The Kick-Legend: Chuck Norris
- The Genius: Albert Einstein
- The producer of Star Wars: George Lucas
Now, will meditation turn you into a 1-hour stamina beast?
No, meditation can only make ejaculation control a bit easier through relaxation and stress reduction and is more of a support than a complete solution to premature ejaculation.
